Lessons from a Leprechaun

Three wishes and a pot of gold, that’s what’s in store for you if you catch a leprechaun today. At least that’s what the tale tells us. So, lace up your sneakers, throw on your favorite green shirt and start hunting because there is a ripe pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Whatever you do, don’t forget the green though. If you do, you are risking a pinch from these feisty creatures. Be ready, be prepared, these creatures are fast, tricky and nimble and by all means, don’t waste any more time, this opportunity only comes once a year…

It’s a tale that most of us grew up with and still tell our children today. While it’s all part of the fun of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, it’s a tale that gets us thinking about the color green…what green shirt will I wear today? Should I tie a green ribbon in my hair? Oh, I can paint a green shamrock on my face…and, what about green food? I need to be eating green food today!

Green, it’s an excellent color that is often associated with growth, freshness, harmony, (our favorite) health, and of course, St. Patrick’s Day. It’s a color that is emotionally empowering and one that can inspire us day in and day out. How so?

Glad you asked!

Growth, renewal, and hope. As we look at nature the color green breathes life into this world from the growing grass to the sprouting seeds. It reminds us to never stop growing. Our lives constantly bring forth circumstances that challenge us to move outside of our comfort zone, stretch ourselves, and expand our horizons. It’s up to us to embrace these challenges, take them head-on and continue to grow and develop. Just as spring calls on the dormant trees to grow and express their beauty, the color green calls on you to continually grow through life.

Clean, fresh and eco-friendly. Being green involves more than face paint, ribbons, and clothing. Rather, it’s a way of life. The color green provides a constant reminder to care for and preserve this beautiful world we live in. It’s up to each and every one of us to limit our waste, recycle our reusable materials and yes, clean up other people’s trash. Being kind to the earth provides a positive connection to the environment and your surroundings. This close connection with nature is cleansing. As you think of the color green, let it be a reminder to do your part to preserve the beautiful nature that surrounds you. So, go ahead, pick up some trash, recycle and repurpose materials, plant some trees, grow a garden and feel good about doing your part to preserve this world for years to come.

Your health, your body, your life. Green is a color of wellness and vitality. Especially when it comes to your daily diet. Loading up on greed foods like spinach, kale, avocado, kiwi and more come with tremendous health benefits. These fresh green foods help support your immune system, boost energy levels, have alkalizing effects on the body, help to detox the body and are an excellent source of prebiotics. The best part, they are readily available at all times and pair nicely with just about any meal.

Our favorite way to ensure we are getting our daily fill of these mighty greens is with organic Wild Microaglae® , a near-perfect green superfood that is loaded with all 20 standard amino acids, essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, phenylethylamine (PEA), and antioxidant pigments phycocyanin and chlorophyll.

And, it just so happens that we have a rockin’ green smoothie recipe to help kick off the St. Patrick’s Day pursuit and fuel you for some leprechaun chasing today…it may just be the difference between finding that pot of gold and coming up empty.
