What’s Really on the Label?

When it comes to good health we know that nutrition is important. And, with today’s fast-paced life and food industry, it can be a bit challenging to get everything we need through diet alone. For this reason, and many more, supplementation has become quite necessary. The challenge comes with finding the right supplement. Take a walk through the aisles of your local grocer. The walls are filled ceiling to floor with what looks like hundreds of options. And, the same holds true when shopping online. The supplement market is a saturated one, meaning there’s much too many to pick from. So, where do you start?

Well, we think it’s best to start with a little research. Get to know your manufacturer, learn about their processing procedures and most importantly look for some key information and certifications.

At New Earth, we help you make the decision so much easier. Starting at the most fundamental level, when we harvest our raw ingredients from Klamath Lake. This is where our dedication to quality begins. From the moment we harvest our raw ingredients up to the moment you consume your supplement, we do what it takes to ensure it’s of the highest quality and efficacy. Unfortunately, this kind of quality and care is not present in all supplement manufacturing.

Like any other industry, you will find companies claiming to be something they are not – the same holds true with their products. The supplement industry is not immune to this. Luckily, there are a few things to look for when considering a new supplement that can help you find high-quality products that you can trust.

As you begin your research you may come across something called a Certification of Analysis (C of A). The Certification of Analysis is a document produced by a company’s quality assurance team that provides information about the materials used to produce the supplement. It contains more detail than a product label and includes information about the quality, purity, and identity of a specific material used in the product. This can help you to understand how a company uses its raw materials from start to finish.

The C of A is not the only test you should use though as they are typically created and confirmed by the manufacturer themselves. You’ll also want to look for some form of third-party validation that backs up the company’s claims on their C of A. Third-party validation is just as it sounds its a third party, outside of the manufacturer, that verifies the company’s product tests and claims. When a company earns certifications from trustworthy certifiers its an indication that you are on the right track and have found a manufacturer you can trust.

There are many different kinds of certifications a product and company can receive, especially when it comes to supplements! Many of these certifications are not easy to achieve and require renewal on a regular basis accompanied by in-depth quality assurance testing from the third party. Here at New Earth, quality and safety are of the utmost importance, and third party certifications are a regular part of our quality assurance program. Check out some of the important third party certifications New Earth receives. And, of course, make sure any other supplements you consume achieve a comparable standard of excellence.

Organic Certification

New Earth’s facilities and microalgae are certified organic to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program. For years, OCCPP/Pro-Cert of Canada has performed thorough annual audits of our processing facilities and the watershed that feeds into Klamath Lake and continues to certify our entire operation as compliant with the requirements for organic certification.

NSF GMP Certification

We maintain our own manufacturing facilities that are registered by NSF International to FDA’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Our facilities are also registered GMP for Sport™ so customers can be assured that there are no banned substances in any of New Earth’s products.

Star-K Kosher Certification

Star-K of Baltimore, Maryland, certifies New Earth’s facilities and products to kosher standards—meeting the requirements of Jewish law. A representative from Star-K annually inspects our facilities, products, and documentation.  Representatives for Star-K also inspect all of the operations of vendors that produce and supply kosher-certified products to New Earth.

Halal Certification

The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) developed a procedure for producing halal (meaning “lawful” or “permitted”) products that assure consistent methodical cleanliness throughout the entire production process. IFANCA inspects New Earth’s facilities and processes, and has certified Wild Body and Wild Mind, two of New Earth’s flagship products, to halal certification standards.

The bottom line? When it comes to purchasing supplements, push the marketing jargon aside and do a little investigation before making your decision. Read the label, research the company, and look for those key certifications that provide you with peace of mind. And, once all these criteria have been met, check to see if the company stands behind their product with a satisfaction guarantee.
At New Earth, we are proud of and stand behind all of our products so much that we offer a 90-day money-back guarantee on all of our products. New Earth checks every box when it comes to quality and safety, from the moment we harvest the raw material to the moment it becomes your choice of health supplement.
